Philosophical Discourse in James Joyce's Ulysses

In May 1996, as part of my final exams at university, I finished my thesis with a research paper entitled Philosophical Discourse in James Joyce's Ulysses. Exemplary analysis of selected chapters. In this paper I analysed the function and the role of philosophical talk and thoughts in Joyce's novel. The essay stresses the fact that in 'Ulysses' philosophical and literary discourses are interwoven.

First I set up a fairly comprehensive index of those philosophers who play a role in 'Ulysses' or who have been assigned such a role by commentators. This index is available online together with a selected bibliography which you can find below. I enjoy discussing these issues and invite your opinion, commentary or questions. [e-mail me!]
